However, we think that the specialist experience of the Birmingham Centre would be most valuable to advice bureaux and individual workers who have to help consumers with their problems, and so we would like to see wider use of the Birmingham Centre's experience in training programmes for general advisers, and perhaps in a back-up service for them. Following a successful money advice service on the Birmingham lines which has been set up within the New Cross CAB in London, NACAB has started a pilot scheme for training CAB workers in money management matters by correspondence course. The Welsh Consumer Council is actively supporting the development of a similar money advice service within the CAB which serves Ely, a very large council estate on the outskirts of Cardiff.
